After the TRANSFIGURATION, Jesus and the disciples came together in Galilee. [ Matthew 17:22. ]. Jesus predicts His death the second time, and tells the disciples that HE will be delivered into the hands of men, they will kill Him, and He will be raised to life after three days. The disciples were filled with grief, then worry, and uncertainty.. Who should lead them after Jesus is gone?. Is it the one who is strongest, or the most intelligent, or the most charismatic?.. Who is the TOP GUN among them?. So the disciples asked: “Who, then, is the GREATEST in the kingdom of heaven?” Then Jesus took a child and said:
“unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” – Matthew 18:3.
The HUMILITY of the child is the GREATEST. Those without humility can never enter heaven.
What makes the humility of the child?. The child knows that he doesn’t “sow or reap”, and everything that he needs is provided by his mighty Father. That makes him OBEDIENT – tell him to sit and he sits, tell him to ‘come here’ and he comes here, tell him to get the newspaper and he gets it. The child obeys everything ‘without grumbling’. And the child always tells the Truth, he is always open and without hidden agenda, he doesn’t have malice, he doesn’t lie, plot, or intrigue. Here, LITTLE LILLY typifies the child. She is too honest, and so steadfast with the Truth, that as she explains herself she dared saying: “even if you nail me on the Cross, this is the Truth.” Later, Little Lilly was seen climbing the rooftop and proclaiming the Truth.
Nowadays, the people’s benchmark of greatness is very different from that of Jesus’. Humanity is infatuated with wealth, power, influence, control, fame, prestige, beauty, strenght, intelligence, etc…., it’s anything that puts you above the rest. For the greatest people on earth, PRIDE prospers..
